How to Match Specifications to Your Vehicle
Use market, generation, engine identification and production information to select the correct automotive specifications.
Model name is only the beginning
A model can be sold with different engines, transmissions and equipment in different markets. Start with the manufacturer, model and generation, then match the engine, transmission and intended market.
Registration year is not always production year
The year of first registration can differ from production or model year. Use manufacturer build information and the vehicle identification number when a maintenance or fitment choice depends on the production date.
Check engine identification
A badge such as 2.2 diesel may cover multiple configurations. Find the engine identifier in the vehicle documentation or manufacturer service information. Never infer a lubricant approval or fill quantity from displacement alone.
Use the original specification
